Ray Booker is a certified Ayurvedic practitioner and graduate of the ASP1 and ASP2 (2008-2010) programs at the highly respected Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also holds certificates in Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy and Food as Medicine, and has been ordained as a minster in the Kriya Yoga tradition. Ray brings a unique and diverse background of experience to his practice and his work with clients.
During his two years with Dr. Vasant Lad, Ray studied Ayurvedic principles of diet and nutrition, pulse analysis, pathology and lifestyle. This course of study, combined with 25+ years of meditation/yoga experience, over four decades as a musician, a twenty seven year career in the field of Information Technology, and parenting two children, have given him a broad perspective in the practical application of Ayurveda in everyday living.
A musician for 40+ years, Ray began his music career in 1968. He has performed in a variety of groups and settings since then. He is also the founder and director of the Jazz Fighting Hunger Project, a collective of Anchorage musicians partnered with Food Bank of Alaska in ending hunger in Alaska. Through a series of concerts and events the project raised funds that translated into putting over 450,000 meals on the tables of the community.
